Ezra Forced Ryan to Write His First Post Today

We started off the class by watching a meditation video for our take a minute while everyone wrote down the assignments inside their binder reminders. After that, Ezra read everybody his blog loud and proud. When Ezra finished reading, Ms. Nakada asked the whole class who wanted to write the next blog. When nobody raised their hand, Ms. Nakada told Ezra to pick a random person to go next, and Ezra chose Ryan. Ryan tired to pretend like it didn't happen and played it off until Ezra raised his hand and reminded Ms. Nakada that Ryan had to write the blog.

Then, we went over our summary's from our reading of chapter four from School Trip. Most of the student's summaries consisted of talking about Maury receiving micro-aggressions for sitting first class on the flight, Jordan gets forced by his friends to be roommates with Andy, and the lady working at the hotel telling them not to walk and eat, but rather to enjoy and savor the food in the moment.

For the last twelve minutes of class we did our G, Q, Q, L. The question that everybody had to answer was, What do you think about school?  Then, we took three minutes to go over our answers with our groups while Ms. Nakada walked around the classroom checking up on everybody's answers.

Jaxon shared is answer out loud and said he likes school, but the school system has a lot of problems. Jaxon also shared that he believes that some of the stuff we learn in school is useless. Afterwards, Sadie shared how she believes teachers can be condescending during certain moments. Caidyn shared that she believes school is like a second home and its like a pathway to having a successful career. Jonah shared that he believes that we don't learn the right concepts in school and suggested that we should learn about stocks. Truman stated that he thinks school is too long and that either the days or the amount of days were at school should be shortened.

For our line of the day Ms. Nakada shared a line from Between the World and Me. The quote states, " I was made for the library, not the classroom. The classroom was a jail of other people's interests; the library was open, unending, and free." - Ta Nehisi Coates. The class then conversed about how they percieved the quote.
