Create-ober Day 21

Week 11: Grammar, Quote, Question, Song, and Lines

The Outsiders

HW: RJ 11.1 IRP (20-30min) or I-Ready (45min)

Start of Class:

At the start of class today, I knew what my faith would be. When everyone got situated and started writing in their planners, I tried to get as caught up with what were learning today in class, since I overheard Nuala Campbell making Jonah Parker pinky promise to choose me when he was blogger. (Spoiler! He did) So, when he came up to do his blog and got the opportunity to choose someone at the end, I was "so surprised" to be chosen.

Middle of Class:

Once I moved all my stuff to my new desk for the day, Ms. Nakada gave us four minutes to do our create-ober for day 21. When everyone was finished, Ezra came up to present his brainrot word of the day for create-ober. After, we lost braincells from Ezra's presentation, Grace came up to present the song that she decided to write. (Which I was going to talk about, but I forgot the song name.) When everyone was finished coming up, Ms. Nakada decided to change gears into Grammar, Quote, Question, Song, and Lines.

During Grammar we learned about Capitalization and the steps you must have:

1. Capitalize the first word in a sentence.

2. Proper Nouns - Proper Adjectives

3. Academic course names

4. Titles - Mr. President - books/songs/poems

After Grammar, we switched into our Quote of the week which was:

"If there's a book you really want to read, but it hasn't been written yet, then you must write it." -Toni Morrison

Ms. Nakada then told the class to write what they thought the quote meant. In my opinion, this award-winning Black American author means that if the world doesn't do what you want then you have to do it for yourself. Others, like Alyssa, thought the quote meant that if there's a book you want to read, and it isn't provided, you have to write your own.

Once the class was all done stating their opinions, Ms. Nakada slowly transitioned into our question of the day which was:

Do teachers assign too much homework?

The class then eagerly wrote on how they felt about the question. After everyone finished writing, we had a class discussion discussing some of our opinions. As a class, we came to the conclusion that it's good to have homework, but when it starts to be a lot, it can be too much, because it will stress you out.

Ms. Nakada then realized we had to finish talking about the chapters of The Outsiders, so we quickly flipped our notes to page 11 where we discussed Chapter 10.

End of Class:

As a class, we talked about how Ponyboy was in denial about Johnny's death, and how Dally got shot and killed by the police. The class then realized that a lot of grief was running through the gang, because Dally essentially killed himself.

Once we finished writing about what happened in Chapter 10, we still had five more minutes of class so we watched The Outsiders movie. After watching the movie for a couple minutes, the bell rang, and it was the end of class!
