Oh. My. Goodness. Gracious. Me. How I have been waiting for this moment to do the blog. If I am being honest I don't event know why I wanted to do the blog, I just kinda did. A few names were notable as they affected my chances to do the blog while the wheel was spinning. Ryan removed my name, Sage added an extra, Nuala removed my name as well, Solomon was GOING to pick me but we had an all day rehearsal for drama and Miri ended up picking somebody else. As my attempts were beginning to be more desperate, Jules, who had done the blog yesterday, had just done a wheel with an equal chance for everybody who hadn't done the blog yet. The wheel was slowing down near my name, and once again I was gaining some hope. This time though, the hope was sincere. The Wheel finally landed on my name, and here I am now. Excited to have a slight change in the recurring schedule of my period 3 English class.
Lit. Circles:
As I was writing the first paragraph, my group was continuing to read To Kill A Mockingbird. I was caught up, and I would read the chapter at my grandparent's house like I did every day before this. There was little discussion, as people were reading ahead, catching up, or rereading. Other groups that are usually silent were taking my groups place as a loud group that slightly disrupts other people's reading. My group finally broke its silence, and we were discussing the book, and drama in drama. We were also discussing the math and science tests we did yesterday. Our group fell silent, as I heard from Miri, "Sammy died." I'm pretty sure this was one of her cats, and I'm sorry for your loss Miri. Ms. Nakada and I were also talking about Atticus in both the book and real life. Solomon was saying that for our literature circles, we had to do a lot on our own, especially the ones that are behind. Ms. Nakada was talking to other students about the upcoming book project, and Solomon was saying that he would bring his Death Guard minis and do the report on his Warhammer 40k Death Guard book. After which, Solomon and Nason were talking about The Hunger Games. Ms. Nakada then announced that the Lit. Circle time was over, and for us to go back to our seats.
GQQS:
We, as in the class, were about to discuss the QQS that we had to continue discussing, when Ms. Nakada was saying that Trump made another decision that hinders immigrants. We also talked about Trump trying to repeal the 14th amendment, but as Mr. Kamm was saying, that would require 3/4 of the government to agree, and that's never gonna happen. We were also talking about how he is trying to see how much he can get away with at the moment. Nason and Ms. Nakada talked about the quote, finally, and was saying the last line in it shows there is no downside with the decision of fighting for freedom. Then, Ms. Nakada adjusted her statement, and was saying that you could be in for a rough time, and you could lose even more privilege. We now discussed the question, "How can we move toward a more just world?" Ms. Nakada asked what does just mean, and somehow Ryan's backpack made it to Jesse's desk. Jonah answered saying that just means fair, equality, and opportunity. Then, we went on about answering the question, and the only sound that could be heard in the classroom for that time was my fingers typing. Ryan was saying that to make the world more just there should be more checks and balances, Jonah was saying that the UN was trying that, but countries were not required to show up to the meeting to discuss that. Ms. Nakada said that it was kinda similar to the Paris accord and its discussion about global warming, and that if countries are willing to give up some power, better things would be an outcome. There were more discussions on war crimes, and Ms. Nakada was saying that there wasn't a chance to start our essays, and to not worry, because she would extend the deadline. As everyone started to pack up, the bell rang and we filed out of the classroom with a final reminder to read tonight, and a "Good day, folks," also from Ms. Nakada.
