NaPoWriMo: Day 10

Poem in Your Pocket Day

OPEN HOUSE TONIGHT 5-7

Lines: "Poetry" by Yrsa Daley-Ward

We discussed how the poem describes tension, and contained imagery at a dinner table, where a family is enraged and silent. We also said that the poem uses corporeal writing, to help readers imagine the feeling in the body. We also pointed out that there is repetition in the sentence, "But this will give you poetry," and how the father might be an alcoholic or dry-drunk, seeing as the poem talks about him trying to hit the narrator for unknown reasons. It also talks about how any pain you might feel, will give you poetry, which Ms. Nakada brought back to what we discussed previously this week, that how you react to pain is what matters.

We then moved on the NaPoWriMo, where we all silently wrote our poems, before finally going to share them. Ezra was the first to share his poem, about Italian brain rot. Peak Poetry, and will go down in history as the most beautiful writing to exist. Sage then shared her poem which was also very good. Nason also shared his special haiku about rain which was very good.

Afterwards, we discussed poem in your pocket day, and we were told to write a museum card in order to show off our classwork during open house.

The bell then rang, and we exited class.
