  1. Reading Journal 1.2 School Trip p. 28-51

We started the day with our Box Breathing and writing our agenda in our planners. We went over the blog, and changed the theme to give our blog some style. Ms. Nakada has us do blog corrections for yesterdays blog, and chose one of us to be the blogger for today.

The students began their readers workshop, with the majority of the class deciding to read School Trip, the book we are reading as a class. After that we discuss the book and summarize the first book as a class:

NEW KID

"Jordan is new at RAD, a PWI and experiences micro-aggressions, misnaming, and by the end feels like an 'new kid.'"

After summarizing New Kid, we summarized Class Act, the second book in the series. Ezra was very active in this discussion, for he is talking at the time of me typing this.

CLASS ACT

"Drew experiences RAD differently than Jordan because of colorism, athleticism, and class."

We discussed how the differences in money and  class affect the Drew in the book, which is probably why its called "Class Act". Then we move on to summarizing the last book thus far, School Trip, and Ezra still has a lot to say:

SCHOOL TRIP

"Jordan get into art school, but isn't sure if he wants to go. He's getting to go to Paris."

After we moved on to making our English notebooks. We decorated the front with Sharpies to make them stylish. After the bell had rung, cutting Ms. Nakada off, and signaling our time was up.
