We started with box breathing, followed by reading Sage's wonderful blog entry from yesterday, which was followed by us summarizing what we read last night in School Trip. Afterwards, our reading journals were checked by Ms. Nakada, a long somewhat silent period broken only by a rattling air conditioner.

We then summarize the most recent chapter of School Trip. Where Liam, Drew, Jordan, and Maury all meet at Liam's house for a sleepover, where it is revealed his parents are pretty racist, they try to get closer to to their personal belongings, and assume Maury was in foster care. We also learn that Maury seems to be unfazed by this. We also learn that all of the chaperones for the school trip have been swapped, and Ms. Rawle gets put on the Civil Rights Trip, which is ironic as Ms. Rawle has a history of micro-aggressions. We also see that Andy even feels insecure about how nobody likes him during a conversation with an older friend.

We then got our quote for the week, being:

To be yourself in a world that is constantly

trying to make you something else is the

 greatest accomplishment.

-Ralph Waldo Emerson

We concluded that the essayist meant:

When society tries to mold you, it is important to express and stay true to yourself, and doing so should be considered an accomplishment.

Question for the week: What do you hope?

Jonah: I hope to beat my 5k PR.

Sadie: Not getting sick this school year

Marcel: Getting a 4.0 GPA

Miri: Hope to have Burger King soon and to go outside more.

Sage: I hope my friends know I love them.

We then interpreted the song: "We Are Going To Be Friends" by The White Stripes.

We determined that the song was about going to elementary school and meeting a new friend
