Beginning of Class
Everyone walked into the classroom and made it to their seats. After settling in, they then sang happy birthday to Jacob. After that, we all watched the new take a minute of the week. It is about taking the time to enjoy the tasks and not worry so much about getting all of it done. Cielle went up to read her blog and then decided to do a wheel. She put my name twice and Caidyn's once. The wheel landed on my name.
Week 9: GQQL
Grammar: figurative language that's in non literal
Examples : metaphor, simile, personification
Quote: "We cannot all succeed when half of us are held back." - Malala Yousafzai
The class discussed what this girls' education advocate was saying. We all agreed that if girls/women are prevented from education it holds all of society back.
Research
Ms. Nakada told everyone to take out their research. She gave us about ten minutes to get started on our research. Many people discussed the due date of the assignment, and learned that it is due on Friday. After our time was up, Ms. Nakada checked up on the class. She asked how we were doing and if we wanted to keep researching or move into literature circles. Everyone agreed that we should continue to research. The class eventually fell silent while everyone continued to work on their research.
Ms. Nakada tells us that instead of being stuck on one question, we should instead skip around. While we research we will eventually learn more about our author, helping us answer the question.
End of Class
Ms. Nakada let us pack up our stuff and get ready to leave. She suggested we work on the research at home if we haven't gotten far. The bell then rang, and we all headed to fourth period.
