HW: Read / write a poem a day
24 iReady Lessons
As everyone, walked into class, we all jotted down the agenda and watched the take a minute video. Then, a few minutes later, Nuala Came up to present her blog. After everyone applauded, Nuala wanted the wheel of doom to determine who the next blogger was. Nuala told Ms. Nakada to put Leila three times, Alyssa two times, and me (Sadie) three times, to pick who the next blogger was. As the wheel slowed down, it landed on my name.
When I got comfortable in the bloggers chair, everyone got out their journals to write down the GQQSL.
Grammar: Lyric poem - a single-voiced poem - musically written about one topic
meter - rhythm in a poem - stress of syllables
monologue - a single character delivering a lengthy speech
And then, we wrote down the quote:
¨ Do not ignore the pain. Give it purpose. Use it.¨ Amanda Gorman.
After everyone wrote what they thought the quote meant, all of us passed out the packets of poems. We all turned to page eight, where we read the poem "This is Just to Say." After we read the poem, everyone wrote down notes for the poem. Then, we all turned the pages of our note books and started to write down our poem(s) for around four minutes. Next, everyone took out computers to write down all of their favorite poems on a google doc. Since it was a shortened day schedule, the bell rang, and Ms. Nakada dismissed everyone for period four.
